Box Office No1 Spot Taken away from Neeson

After that feeble title I promise this article will improve matters. Or not. He's Just Not That Into You proves that a big cast and a collison of lives equal a hit and so once more the US Box Office fails to surprise us. The rom-com starring Scarlett, Drew, Ben, Jennifer (can't act) and Jennifer (can act)...Aniston and Connelly by the way...earnt $27.8m in the opening weekend. In fairness it's not all that bad but then again it's not that good either...anyway if you enjoyed Bride Wars you'll think this is Godfather-esque...then again if you liked Bride Wars you probably have the mental IQ of 1 and think the next Kate Hudson project will be the film of the year. What has happened to Hudson btw, I mean Skeleton Key and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days were really good. Fools Gold, Bride Wars, My Best Friends Girl...? Seriously?! Sorry I seem to have veered off topic.

Taken moved to $53.6m having 'taken' (sorry) $20.5 m this weekend. I have to say that I saw this movie a long time ago here in the UK and I loved it, Neeson is the most appealing actor to watch for me and he nails the action hero here with a humourous, unforgiving performance. Oh and Holly Valance is in it. Enough said.

Coraline drops in at 3 with a $16.8m opening. I personally find this Corpse Bride animation unnerving. I'll stick with Pixar. Well done Dakota Fanning though on another hit.

Now the bad news. Steve Martin is still making movies. Pink Panther sucked but old Martin loves crap so why not make a sequel? And that he has. $11.6m?! Are these people retarded? I thought there was a recession! I mean are people like 'oh yeah erm lets go and see a movie with our hard earned cash' and they choose this??????!!!!

Push is the other newcomer in the top 10 but with its mediocre reviews I don't hold out much hope for it. $10.1m though isn't atrocious and it's another new entry for Fanning.

Elsewhere at 5 is Paul Blart Mall Cop ($10.9m/$96.9m). Slumdog ($7.18m/77.2m) lies at 7. Gran Torino which I have to say I cannot wait for here in the UK took $7.16m to move up to $120m. Then comes the stragglers in the shape of The Uninvited with a take of $6.26m ($18.4m). Hmm, is it just me or are they seriously running out of horror titles soon? I mean how far can they go? In a few years it'll be The Invited and then Uninvited and so on...am I being harsh??!! Hotel For Dogs comes in at 10 with $5.71m ($55.1m).

As for the UK Box Office...well it is dull. Curious Case lies top over the US number 1. But we still have Role Models and gulp Valkyrie. We are too far behind. I will give analysis over the UK Box Office soon but when it's this dull I fall asleep writing. So I'll just say to America we got Taken first so ha!! I'm clutching at straws aren't I??
